Do puppies need a routine?

Puppies like children also need routine, to be fed at the same time, short outings outside or in the back garden to encourage them to go to the toilet.  While they are toilet training inside in the early days, you can use training pads or newspaper.  To encourage your pup to go to the toilet on the paper or pad leave a partly soiled piece of paper or pad as a cue.  Puppies rarely go to the toilet in their own bedding but they aren’t precious about any other areas. If your pup doesn't go to the toilet on your outings look for signs that they need to go such as sniffing around and pacing in circles and use this as a signal to try again on a little outing.
